The University has expanded its initial numbers of journals with Elsevier by purchasing the Science Direct Freedom Collection.

We now have access to over 2000 full text scientific, technical and medical (STM) journals published since 1 January 1995 which is good news for students, researchers and academics.  For the latest information on the titles they cover, please look at their content list. We will be adding these to AtoZ of Electronic Journals in due course.

Access to this resource is via the usual route, so if you haven’t used any of our electronic resources before, please visit iCity first, and follow these instructions.  If you haven’t used Elsevier before, you may have to register with them the first time. If you have any access problems off-campus, please contact us via athens@bcu.ac.uk.

There is currently an error when searching CINAHL via EBSCO, although none of our other EBSCO databases seem to be affected. We have raised this with EBSCO, who should fix this soon.

Update from EBSCO received Wed 25/01/2012 23:04 : “We have pinpointed the root cause that has led to imprecise searching and data displays in a few areas within the CINAHL experience as have been reported.  We expect these issues to be resolved within the next 72 hours, and will send notification when resolution occurs.”

IEEE tell us they have  partnered with two of the leading technology institutes in China to deliver worldwide access to two of their highly regarded technical journals, now available via the IEEE Xplore digital library in English.

Tsinghua Science and Technology (Sponsored by Tsinghua University)

Appearing bimonthly, this journal promotes academic exchanges of new technology worldwide. It reports the latest developments and achievements in systems engineering, electronics technology, other related research areas, and encourages various academic views.
